The global Ping YOUniverse series started with a two-day event in Dallas, TX at the new Omni PGA Frisco Resort. As always, YOUniverse Americas had an amazing turnout and some surprises along the way.
Cosmic Insights From Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson
At the Ping YOUniverse Americas event in Dallas, we welcomed world-renowned scientist and author Neil deGrasse Tyson as our guest keynote speaker. Throughout his career, Neil has published several books and appeared on countless television shows. He is also the Director of the Hayden Planetarium in New York.
Neil and our CEO Andre Durand did an extremely entertaining fireside chat for the crowd in Dallas. In their conversation, they discussed the concept of people’s digital personas as they run parallel to our actual existence in the physical or cosmic universe. Cleverly, Neil tied the whole discussion together with the concept of Ping Identity’s YOUniverse.

Customer and partner sessions in Dallas gave great insight into the benefits of working with Ping solutions. We shared stories about preventing MFA fatigue, orchestrating user journeys around registration, authentication, and account recovery, and leveraging risk signals to improve end-user experiences. YOUniverse Americas 2023 Technical Deep Dive Sessions
No Ping YOUniverse event would be complete without plenty of technical deep dive sessions for curious designers and engineers. The second half of day one was spent discussing Ping’s newest solutions like Neo, DaVinci, Passwordless, and PingOne Protect.
Ping Identity Solutions Architects got to show off some cool new capabilities, while also helping customers learn better ways to secure their enterprises.

The attendees of Ping YOUniverse Americas were excited to celebrate the winners of the seventh annual Identity Excellence Awards. Here is how the winners shaped up in 2023:
Customer Experience Champion
Electricity System Operator (ESO) is the electricity system operator for all of Great Britain. ESO received the Customer Experience Champion award for their innovative customer authentication journeys. Working with Capgemini, ESO redesigned its digital registration and authentication processes to deliver seamless and engaging customer experiences. Using PingOne DaVinci, ESO customized journeys, streamlined registration, and integrated third-party services - while maintaining security and a branded customer experience the entire time.
CEO’s Choice Award
Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) has a rich history spanning 160 years. In fact, the organization originally pioneered cooperative lending to empower citizens and foster self-reliance.
RBI is the proud recipient of the CEO Choice Award for exceptional achievements in 2023. Due to the size and scope of its operation in several European countries, RBI faced challenges when faced with the prospect of a digital transformation. However, in 2020, RBI partnered with Ping to unify their banking operations and digital channels in an agile transformation - standardizing APIs, events, and data taxonomies.
RBI also adopted decentralized identity, putting the organization at the forefront of security, privacy, and interoperability, aligning with regulatory traction for verified credentials across the EU.
Better Identity Champion
A Brazil telco that serves over 67 million customers with wireless voice and data services, was recognized as the Better Identity Champion due to their work modernizing their legacy Customer IAM platform. When faced with the complex task of updating their CIAM platform under a tight timeline, this Brazil telco selected Ping as their CIAM technology provider and Netbr as their delivery and managed service partner. Working as a team, the Brazil telco, Netbr, and Ping managed to reduce costs, improve performance, decrease fraud, and transform customer experiences.
Identity Innovation Champion
A leading multinational healthcare enterprise, improved user experience and security across their network of 130+ localized health brands. By leveraging Ping's identity services, particularly DaVinci, this healthcare company reduced friction, enhanced security, facilitated data sharing, expanded partnerships, and empowered their product teams. This strategic move has sparked innovation and transformed customer engagement within their business.
Modern Identity Champion
A major Australian banking organization, partnered with Versent and Ping Identity to create a paperless home loan application process. By utilizing PingOne advanced services and CDR integration kits, this banking organization can now assess customer data from other banks, providing faster and more secure loan approvals within 10 minutes. We applaud them for their pioneering efforts in Australia.
Cloud Identity Champion
This global financial corporation was recognized for the importance of identity in their digital strategy. With Accenture as their delivery partner and Ping as their service provider, they successfully migrated over 65 million identities, 500+ applications, multiple customer-facing applications, and MFA services to the PingOne Advanced Services CIAM Platform. This seamless migration allowed them to execute their strategic vision and provide highly secure CIAM services.
Event Wrap-Up: Golf at the Brand-New Fields Ranch Course
We wrapped up Ping YOUniverse Americas by playing 18 holes of golf with customers and partners. The second annual Ping Identity golf scramble took place at the world-class Fields Ranch golf course.
For everyone in attendance, some fresh air and relaxation was a great way to cap off an already amazing experience at YOUniverse 2023. As a final gathering, everyone came together for a golf happy hour to reflect on the weekend.
YOUniverse 2023: Sydney, AU | October 25
The next stop in the YOUniverse global series was Sydney, Australia on October 25th.
YOUniverse 2023 Sydney was a great give-and-take between customers, partners, and Ping Identity experts. Guest Keynote Presentation with the Honorable Victor Dominello
Everyone at YOUniverse 2023 was thrilled to welcome Victor Dominello to the stage. Victor is the Former NSW Minister for Customer Service & Digital Government, he is also widely known as one of the top tech innovators in Australia.
During his passionate presentation, Victor expounded on the need for a decentralized identity credential in Australia. He also discussed the impacts of identity threats in the APAC region and ways to bolster security with state government initiatives. Finally, Victor touched on his thoughts around the role of cybersecurity in Canberra's strategy to safeguard Australians in the digital era.
Tech Session with National Australia Bank (NAB)
The team from National Australia Bank (NAB) took part in a tech session that created a lot of buzz in Sydney. The tech session was overseen by the NAB’s Head of Technology Rupesh Ramachandran, as well as Engineering Manager Sourabh Idoorkar. The NAB team elaborated on the bank's process of migrating customer identities to the Ping Directory.
Attendees at YOUniverse 2023 gained insights into how NAB achieved their seamless migration with zero downtime that had no impact on their customers or staff. The NAB team also explained how they maintained secure access to online banking resources throughout the migration to ensure accuracy and consistency across all platforms.

Sportsbet GM Michael Foster gave an interesting presentation about scaling authentication efforts for high-volume online betting events like the Melbourne Cup. With the help of Ping, Sportsbet seamlessly migrated from its previous authentication platform to provide over two million customers with secure and frictionless experiences for online betting.
Mark Britt, Managing Director of Cowry at Australian Payments Plus (AP+) gave an engaging talk on implementing integrations with Ping Identity. As Mark explained, AP+ is pioneering efforts to manage the next generation of consumer identity, payments, and data in the region.
YOUniverse 2023: London, UK | November 14
After Sydney, the Ping YOUniverse series made its way to the United Kingdom.
Ping YOUniverse London took place on November 14, 2023, and included a vibrant crowd of customers, partners, and Ping experts. We also owe a special thanks to our headline speaker at the event: world-famous cyclist Sir Christopher Hoy.
Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy Inspires the Crowd
The crowd in London was thrilled to welcome Sir Christopher Hoy to the stage as our headline speaker. Sir Chris is a 6-time Olympic gold medalist and 11-time world champion in the sport of track cycling.
In his speech, Sir Chris spoke movingly about resilience, as well as the power of focus. He also reminded the crowd at YOUniverse how far you can go if just one person believes in you at the right time.
Sir Chris then turned the conversation to the power of setting goals and seeing them through. He delivered some simple, yet powerful advice: “You need to have a proper plan. After that, you have to stay in the present moment and go step by step.” In effect, Sir Chris explained that with a goal in mind, it is essential to fully commit to the process.

London’s Tech Talk Extravaganza
The Tech Talk Extravaganza at YOUniverse London covered advanced and emerging technologies - eventually journeying to the outer edges of IAM trends. For their part, Ping customers covered topics such as reducing friction and crafting multi-brand customer journeys. They also talked about the importance of providing controlled, secure access while also protecting user identities.

The final stop of the YOUniverse series was in Paris, France on November 16, 2023.

Tech Discussion with Important Partners in France
Fouzi Akermi and Julian Maldonato from Deloitte came together to host an important session on decentralized identity. During the Deloitte presentation, the message was clear: the future of Customer IAM (CIAM) lies in giving people control over their own personal data.
Synetis Deputy Practice Manager Patrice Rey led an insightful discussion that emphasized the benefits of CIAM orchestration in the banking industry.
