Ping Identity Is a Leader in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Access Management

Ping Identity has been recognized as a Leader in the Gartner® Magic Quadrant for Access Management™ for the sixth consecutive year! This report talks about various offerings along with strengths and cautions that Ping is able to offer to customers.

In the 2022 report, Ping Identity is recognized as a Leader based on its ability to execute, and completeness of vision. We feel The PingOne Cloud Platform demonstrates its product strategy, innovation, and execution in the market which helped us to get recognized in the Gartner Magic Quadrant.

Key components of the PingOne Cloud Platform include no/low-code orchestration, risk and fraud prevention, hybrid and multi-cloud support, and high capability rankings.

The 2022 Magic Quadrant for Access Management has expanded beyond traditional access management. It focuses on “transformational technologies or approaches delivering on the future needs of end users,” according to Gartner. Gartner has highlighted a multitude of use cases, including those for workforce whether that is employees, contractors, or temporary workers, as well as for external users, including consumers, partners, and citizens. Use cases in the external users category are often referred to as customer identity and access management (CIAM).

In this year’s report, Gartner added extra emphasis on orchestration by calling out new orchestration capabilities. Gartner specifically added the bullets below to their access management market definition in this year’s report:

• Other low-/no-code interfaces for building complex, dynamic authentication, and fine-grained authorization flows

• Journey-time orchestration in the context of access management

• Machine identity management

• Advanced life cycle management capabilities

• Progressive profiling

Gartner positions vendors in this report based on their completeness of vision (which assesses things like strategy, business model, market understanding, and innovation) and their ability to execute (based on things like pricing, current offering, and operations). Ping is positioned as a Leader in this report. Also, we are the furthest to the right on the “completeness of vision” axis.

Orchestration

As mentioned above, Gartner added new low/no-code and orchestration callouts to their market definition. Ping’s approach to orchestration is unique in that we are completely vendor agnostic, even providing OOTB connectors to competitors. We often say anti-lock-in and that’s exactly what we mean to achieve with our orchestration service.

Meeting the Needs of Large Enterprises

Let’s face it, large enterprises have big user populations, massive scale requirements, and complex use cases that often span multiple clouds and on premises environments.

Requirements like this are a reality for many businesses. The PingOne Cloud Platform delivers a plethora of capabilities in the IAM realm. Some of these capabilities are not present in many other IAM vendors. Ping’s capabilities include risk and fraud detection, identity proofing, orchestration, fine-grained authorization, adaptive access, and API access control. Gartner evaluated these and other features when naming Ping a Visionary Leader in the Magic Quadrant™ for Access Management
