Recognizing the Groundbreaking Work That Inspires the Identity Security Industry

It’s that time of year again! The time to celebrate the work that pushes our industry forward. We’re proud to announce this year’s Identity Excellence Awards winners.

I can’t stress enough how great the work that’s been submitted this year has been. Reviewing all the nominations and seeing all the ways our customers are continuing to innovate in the field is both exciting and inspiring. It’s no wonder that it was harder than ever for our judging committee to pick just one winner for each award. Though all of this year’s nominees are doing something special for the industry, our winners have truly made an impact.

This year we celebrated the award recipients at the Austin stop of our global user conference, PingYOUniverse. We were happy to sing our praises for all these deserving companies and I was delighted to congratulate each one of our winners in person.

And now, it’s my privilege to announce the 2022 Identity Excellence Awards winners as follows:

The Identity Innovation Champion award recognizes the trailblazers who are pushing the limits of identity and embracing the digital future. They adopt new technologies and pave the path for a future built on identity.

Winner: myColorado™

The myColorado™ team was recognized for navigating the unexpected exponential growth of the myColorado app during the pandemic while remaining a national leader in identity innovation and management. By migrating over 900,000 users to the PingOne Cloud Platform, the team was able to bring support back in-house, enabling faster response times, increased autonomy, and an improved user experience for all residents using the myColorado app.

The Cloud Identity Champion award winner embraces the potential of the cloud, combining enterprise security with highly accessible services in an agile environment.

Winner: Equifax

Equifax earned this award by delivering a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) compliant platform that significantly reduces technical debt and provides a flexible solution ready to support the needs of their Government customers. The Equifax team, along with the help of partner Coreblox and Ping engineering, were able to automate deployment to make standing-up, redundant architectures simple, predictable, and repeatable. The results allowed them to be the first consumer reporting agency to achieve a FedRAMP Ready designation and are part of a three-year $1.5B digital initiative to completely transform their business and become the only cloud-native credit reporting company.

A Modern Identity Champion is leading the charge toward modernizing legacy IAM systems. This award category celebrates the innovators connecting powerful new IAM capabilities to existing investments.

Winner: Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines was recognized for migrating an on-premises legacy IAM platform to a modern one deployed in the cloud. For the first time, Southwest Airlines’ employees are able to embrace SSO and improved MFA experiences.

The new platform is more resilient, more secure, and offers an improved login experience that’s a result of two years of collaboration between Southwest employees, contractors, and professional service providers. The newly deployed system now hosts more than 100 applications in SSO and has significantly reduced the volume of daily logins required for the airlines’ 60,000+ employees. It also saved $1.2M in legacy software costs as well as garnered further annual savings of more than $300K due to reduced logins required by customer service agents, which represents about 5% of the user base.

The Better Identity Together award recognizes the customer and partner working together in unique and meaningful ways to advance identity security.

Winner: SVB & ProofID

SVB, the parent of Silicon Valley Bank, and their partner ProofID were acknowledged for their efforts to modernize SVB’s legacy consumer IAM platform with a cloud-first approach. The result was a more flexible platform that allows for more rapid delivery of consumer-focused solutions, saving millions in development costs and fees, and ensuring consistent policy enforcement. This also sets the groundwork for an eventual full platform replacement and allows their apps to begin migrating to the new platform seamlessly.

Our Customer Experience Champion is winning customers over with secure, engaging experiences. This award highlights the customer-first leader who went above and beyond to earn customer loyalty and trust.

Winner: Three Ireland Ltd

Three Ireland was presented as a winner for the successful transformation from an on-prem identity solution to the PingOne Cloud Platform and the seamless migration of over 800,000 customers. They were able to integrate all digital applications into Ping Identity to provide single sign-on (SSO) for their users plus lay the foundation to adopt new capabilities in future. Improved stability, reliability, and an enhanced user experience for customers resulted in major upticks in registration, membership to their community board 3Community, and significant reduction in ticket volume. Working collaboratively and never losing sight of the customer and employee experience throughout their journey was also key to their success.

On behalf of our judging committee, it was our honor to review this year’s submissions, recognize these exciting and innovative advancements in identity security, and celebrate the teams who brought these projects to life.
